Selva Escondida has an average rainfall of 4,000-5,000 mm (157-197 inches), concentrated during the rainy seasons from mid-May through late-November. Selva Escondida has steep terrain. The combination of these two facts means there are many water ways including some small waterfalls and canyoning too.

Given the variety of flora and fauna found in the Escaleras in Costa Rica, abundant rainfall and streams, and mountainous rainforest that ranges from 558-1,772 feet / 540 meters above sea level, it's hardly surprising that there are many birds.

The two-story Studio serves many purposes. The lower floor is a workshop studio with tools, a kitchen, tables, storage and restroom.
